Students at Smith, Mt. Holyoke, Hampshire, Amherst College, and University of Massachusetts Amherst have successfully obtained partial or full funding from on-campus sources to attend this training. Some students have done so by individually requesting support from a dean of the college, others have petitioned for funding as an organization, and yet others have found on-campus grant funding.
For those who have completed a Birth Doula Training with any organization in the past, you may attend Warm Welcome's Birth Doula Workshop at a discounted tuition of $150 off regular rate. Past refresher students have described Warm Welcome's workshop as "basic AND intermediate rolled into one". Get up to speed on pandemic-times approaches and turbo charge your birthwork with our rigorous training!

Warm Welcome directly subsidizes $1200 of tuition assistance for people of color and caucasian latinx for each Birth Doula Workshop; $550 for Postpartum Doula Workshop. Curious why? Great! Read these four articles and I think you'll agree this is important.

newly trained doulas teach birth techniques in northampton massachusetts
How much do doulas earn?
In the Amherst/Northampton MA area, the typical range of fees for birth doula care (including prenatal and postpartum visits) is $800-$1200+. This varies based on what geographic area the doula works in, level of experience, whether they have any other relevant skills (such as being a yoga teacher, Licensed Massage Therapist, Acupuncturist, etc), and what package of services the doula offers. The doula determines, for example, how many prenatal and postpartum appointments to have with clients, and at what point in their labor to will join them. Many doulas in the Pioneer Valley area work on a sliding scale basis. Fees in metropolitan areas often run in the range of $2000-$3000+ per birth. Midwives who also work as doulas usually earn $1500- $2500+ in Western Mass.
Postpartum doulas in the Amherst/Northampton area earn between $25-$50 an hour, with $30 an hour being typical.
